The Independence Falcons entered their tilt with the Bakersfield Drillers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Independence secured a 60-54 W over Bakersfield on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Independence, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Independence to victory were Ka'Rayah Robertson and Kaylynn Bolden. Robertson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds, while Bolden dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Bolden hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Josslyn Escobar, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Independence's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Bakersfield, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which is still a better percentage than their 1-7 record this season.
Independence will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. Ridgeview is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Bakersfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Highland comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
