The 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions, presented by the Army National Guard, made a stop on Friday, Dec. 9 to recognize the
Clarksville (Tenn.) High School girls soccer team on their second Tennessee state champion in three years under head coach Jeff Jordan. The Lady Wildcats finished ranked in the top 25 in the
MaxPreps National Rankings and were one of only 10 girls soccer teams to be honored, out of more than 16,000 high school varsity soccer teams. This is the sixth year the Tour is recognizing some of the finest soccer teams in the country.

With an outstanding record of 23-3-1, Clarksville used a great mix of young and experienced players to win the state championship year. In the championship game, freshman Destiny Hill scored the only goal in the 18th minute of the game, and left the outcome to a strong defensive effort.
The Tour of Champions presentation took place during half-time of the girls basketball game in the Clarksville gymnasium. Private Clarissa Andrade, Master Sergeant Christopher West and Staff Sergeant ShirHonda Jones were on hand representing the Tennessee Army National Guard. As the girls basketball game began, the Army National Guard handed out commemorative Tour of Champions t-shirts to the team to wear during the presentation. There were approximately 400 students, fans and parents on-site with lots of excitement enjoying the rivalry basketball game.
As the first half of the girls basketball game ended, the dance team fired up the audience with a well-rehearsed dance routine and the Tennessee 3A state championship soccer team came out to center court. MaxPreps representative Dean Craig was kicked off the celebration as he shared the process that MaxPreps uses to determine the team rankings for the Tour of Champions and reminded the audience of the tremendous accomplishments of the Lady Wildcats soccer team.
Next, Dean introduced Staff Sergeant ShirHonda Jones who presented the Army National Guard national rankings trophy to head coach Jeff Jordan. The crowd cheered as Coach Jordan and the girls displayed the trophy and posed for pictures. After a few minutes at center court, the entire team moved out to the lobby for more pictures and media interviews.
The girls, their families and Coach Jordan could not have been more appreciative of MaxPreps and the Army National Guard for bringing national recognition to their great team and this wonderful group of ladies. Congratulations Lady Wildcats on your well-deserved state championship and top 25 national ranking!
