July 14, 2014 -- (Cameron Park, California) The Seattle Seahawks, USA Football and MaxPreps today announced the inaugural High School Football Media Day to spotlight high school football throughout the greater Seattle area. The Media Day will take place July 20 at the Seahawks' Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton, Washington.
Coaches and players from area high school football programs will participate in media sessions similar to those of a pro team, focusing on their upcoming seasons, summer workouts and team goals and expectations. Media sessions will include 1-on-1 breakout opportunities and video interviews.
Players also will be introduced to USA Football's Heads Up Football program, including Heads Up Tackling demonstrations and equipment fitting with USA Football representatives, plus an on-field photography session.
"Along with being champions on the field, the Seahawks are known to have had a long-term commitment to promoting high school football," MaxPreps President Andy Beal said. "MaxPreps is thrilled to help bring about the inaugural High School Football Media Day in partnership with the Seahawks and USA Football."
"Friendships as well as fitness and social benefits that young athletes gain by playing high school football are invaluable," USA Football Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck said. "USA Football is proud to partner with the Seahawks and MaxPreps to salute student-athletes and coaches across the Seattle area. We're also pleased to introduce the tenets of our Heads Up Football program, which establish important standards rooted in education to advance player safety."
USA Football is the official football development partner of the Seahawks and the NFL.
The list of participating schools and a schedule for the day will be announced before the event.
