The high school football season in Kansas came to a close over the weekend with eight championship games played at six sites around the state. Mill Valley (Shawnee) was among the winners, beating Northwest (Wichita) 49-35 in the Class 5A title contest.
That victory, coupled with its 9-2 record and tremendous play this season, makes Mill Valley the 2020 MaxPreps Champion for the state of Kansas.
The Jaguars have now won back-to-back titles in 5A and four of the last six dating back to 2015.
In the win over Northwest, senior quarterback
Cooper Marsh came up huge with 255 passing yards and three touchdown passes while running for 131 yards and three more scores. He finished the season with 1,852 passing yards and 19 touchdowns with 687 more yards on the ground and 16 TDs.
Running back
Quin Wittenauer was also a dangerous weapon for the Mill Valley offense, finishing the season with 1,308 yards on the ground and 17 touchdowns.
