For the first time this year, the state of Maryland has two teams in the top 10 now that McDonogh (Owing Mills) has moved up to No. 10 in the MaxPreps south region football computer rankings.
McDonogh knocked off Loyola Blakefield last week and went from No. 17 overall to No. 10. DeMatha (Hyattsville) was already in the top 10, coming in at No. 2.
Louisiana also had a pair of teams join the rankings this week with John Curtis Christian (River Ridge) joining at No. 15 and Edna Karr (New Orleans) debuting at No. 24.
The regional rankings are based on the MaxPreps National Football Computer Rankings, presented by the Army National Guard. The South region includes teams from Florida, Tennessee, Maryland, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Washington D.C., Kentucky, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
