The 8th Annual MaxPreps Football Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard visited the
Archbishop Rummel Raiders, the first of three stops in Louisiana, to present the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to the championship football team.
Archbishop Rummel had a successful 14-0 season and claimed its first Louisiana 5A state championship. This undefeated season also brought them the title of being ranked No. 59 nationally out of more than 16,000 high school varsity football teams in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings.
"You read and hear about MaxPreps all the time and to be on the Tour of Champions you have to be one of the tops in the country, so it's an honor for us to be a part of this," said Archibishop Rummel head football coach Jay Roth, who completed his 18th season this year.
During the pep rally, which faculty, staff and students attended, the band brought out the school spirit. The students, teammates and staff were shoulder-locked and swaying during the alma mater which gave a presence of camaraderie and love for each other and their team.
To top off the team spirit, the prestigious ‘Minuteman' trophy was presented to coach Roth and his team by Archbishop Rummel's very own Staff Sergeant Kenneth Carrigee of the Louisiana Army National Guard, who is a 1997 graduate.
The pride of the players and school was visible after receiving the Army National Guard national ranking trophy from one of their own graduates who serves our country proudly.
