Video: Top 10 Plays of the Year Check out the best of the best from the 2017-18 school year.
It was a rough week for the No. 1 team in the nation as Calvary Christian (Clearwater, Fla.) not only lost for the first time in two years, but it did so in the Florida Class 4A state championship game.
The 5-1 loss to Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) ended the nation's longest winning streak at 60 games. It also dropped the Warriors to No. 11, while Calvary Christian Academy enters the rankings at No. 10 despite a 17-15 record. Of those 15 losses, however, 11 are by forfeit for a rules violation on a transfer student.
With Calvary Christian's loss, a new No. 1 team is needed and that honor goes to Argyle (Texas). The Eagles soar past idle No. 2 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) mainly because they are currently undefeated with a better overall record and they are playing in a postseason tournament. Montverde Academy does not participate in the playoffs in Florida.
Argyle has 19 wins by shutout this year and has only two games won by one run and 18 games won by at least 10 runs. The Eagles have reached the Texas Class 4A state finals.
