A pair of MaxPreps All-Americans along with the reigning MaxPreps National Player of the Year recently were named to the USA Volleyball U21 training team. Additionally, a handful of top players from the Class of 2023 also are among the 20 players selected.
The team will train from May 26-June 4 in Louisiana and 12 will be picked to compete at the 2022 Women's U21 Pan American Cup June 5-13 in Mexico.
Chloe Chicoine of
McCutcheon (Lafayette, Ind.) and
Claire Little of
Vista Murrieta (Murrieta, Calif.) were named to the 2021 MaxPreps All-America Team and likely will be preseason All-America candidates entering their senior season.
Elia Rubin, the MaxPreps National Player of the Year, also was chosen for the training team. The
Marymount (Los Angeles) standout, who is headed to Stanford, dominated last year in leading the Sailors to a MaxPreps National Championship.
Chicoine, the high-flying Penn State commit, had a busy fall helping the U18 national team to a bronze medal finish in September in Mexico before returning to lead the Mavericks to the Indiana 4A title.
Little, a 6-3 BYU pledge, pounded 442 kills and 238 digs for the 20-10 Broncos, who played an aggressive national schedule. In two seasons with Vista Murrieta, Little has 903 kills and 485 digs.
Other 2023 players on the training team are
Ella Brandewie of
Bishop Hartley (Columbus, Ohio) and
Ella Swindle of
Rock Bridge (Columbia, Mo.). Brandewie finished 2021 with 171 kills, hitting at 43 percent. Swindle, a 6-2 setter, dished up 690 assists (8.3 per set) last season for the 34-6 Bruins.

McCutcheon senior Chloe Chicoine is one of 20 players named the USA Volleyball U21 training team. The 12 chosen for the U21 team will compete in June in Mexico.
