Sumrall (Miss.) won a pair of MaxPreps National Championships in 2009
and 2010. The program added to its resume this season by winning its seventh state championship and finishing No. 1 in the Small Town Top 25 high school baseball rankings.
The Bobcats captured Mississippi's Class 4A state championship with a 2-1
series win over
Ripley, which finished No. 21.
The Small Town Top 25 includes schools with an enrollment of
fewer than 1,000 students from towns with a population of less than 10,000.
Rankings are compiled using the MaxPreps computer ratings.
Sumrall edged out
Greene Central (Snow Hill), which won the North Carolina Class 2A championship.
Bald Eagle Area (Wingate), which finished No. 2 in last year's rankings, comes in at No. 3 after winning the Pennsylvania 2A championship.
