North Carolina All-State Girls Basketball Team presented by Suddenlink

When it comes to filling up the stat sheet, they don't come much better than Newton-Conover senior center Chyna Cornwell.

The 2019-20 Suddenlink North Carolina Player of the Year, Cornwell produced a double-double in each of her team's 30 games this season to easily lead the state in that category.

Cornwell averaged 26.2 points per game with a high of 40 points in a win over East Lincoln. She also averaged 16.7 rebounds and had over 20 rebounds seven times. The Rutgers-bound standout was also named the District 11 Player of the Year and led Newton-Conover to the Class 2A state championship game, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cornwell leads a group of 15 players on three different teams. Players were chosen from the NHSAA and the NCISAA.

The Gatorade State Player of the Year as a sophomore at Laney and a junior at Ashley, Rivers was displaced by Hurricane Florence and played at Ashley this year. She had another huge season, averaging 25 points, 11.7 rebounds, 6.3 steals and 4.2 assists.

Chyna Cornwell, Newton-Conover (Newton)

Cornwell led Newton-Conover to the Class 2A state championship game and a 28-2 record. She was the District 11 Player of the Year while averaging 26.2 points, 16.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.

Indya Nivar, Apex Friendship (Apex)

The high-scoring sophomore led Apex Friendship to a 24-3 record and the fourth round of the 4A playoffs. She was the District 5 Player of the Year and averaged 26.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5.1 steals and 2.5 assists per game.

Anya Poole, Southeast Raleigh (Raleigh)
6-2 | Senior | Forward | North Carolina
One of the top recruits in the state, Poole led Southeast Raleigh to a 27-1 record and a spot in the Class 4A state championship game. She was also named to the All-District 5 team.

Kennedy Todd-Williams, Jacksonville
6-0 | Senior | Guard | North Carolina
The Player of the Year in District 2 ahead of Gatorade State Player of the Year Saniya Rivers, Todd-Williams led Jacksonville to a 24-4 record while averaging 16.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.5 steals.

Jessica Timmons, North Mecklenburg (Huntersville)

The District 9 Player of the Year led North Mecklenburg to the third round of the Class 4A state playoffs. She averaged 24.7 points per game with 8 rebounds and 2.9 steals.

Reigan Richardson, Cannon (Concord)

An all-state pick in the NCISAA Class 4A division and one of the top recruits in the state, Richardson averaged 22.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game.

Hannah Tipton, Mountain Heritage (Burnsville)

Tipton earned all-district 12 honors while averaging 19.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.8 steals. She helped Mountain Heritage reach the third round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Skylah Travis, Weldon

The District 1 Player of the Year led Weldon to the Class 1A championship game while averaging 20.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, 5.1 steals, 3.9 blocks and 4.9 assists.

Emily Carver, Enka

The second-leading scorer in the state averaged 26.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. She was the District 12 Player of the Year.

Jenna Wooten, D.H. Conley (Greenville)

Wooten led her squad to a 28-0 record before falling to Jacksonville in the fourth round of the Class 3A playoffs. She was the District 3 Player of the Year and averaged 15.0 points per game.

Kennedi Simmons, Southeast Guilford (Greensboro)

Simmons led the Falcons to a 30-1 record and a berth in the Class 3A championship game. An all-district first team choice, Simmons led Southeast Guilford to a state title as a junior.

Miya Giles-Jones, E.E. Smith (Fayetteville)

E.E. Smith advanced to the Class 3A state championship game behind the play of Giles-Jones, who was the District 4 Player of the Year. She averaged 13.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

Jacee Busick, Glenn (Kernersville)

The District 7 Player of the Year averaged 16.8 points and 9.3 rebounds in leading Glenn to a 24-2 record and the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.

Faith Blackstone, Hillside (Durham)

Ranked as one of the Top 100 players in the nation by ESPNW, Blackstone was the conference MVP after averaging 26.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game.
