Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2021 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
Tiger Adolpho of
Rigby is the 2021 MaxPreps Idaho High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound senior quarterback led the Trojans to an 11-1 record and the Class 5A state championship.
In a 27-12 win over Highland (Pocatello) in the title game, Adolpho completed 12 of 18 pass attempts for 190 yards and three touchdowns. He accounted for a fourth score on the ground.
Adolpho was even better in the semifinals during a thrilling 55-49 triple overtime win over Meridian, piling up over 300 yards and six touchdowns.
For the season, Adolpho threw for over 2,500 yards and ran for more than 700.
Adolpho considered one of the top prospects in Idaho and is committed to play next season at Weber State. According to
247Sports, Hawaii and Kansas also extended scholarship offers.
Jordan Erickson of
Rocky Mountain (Meridian) was the 2020 MaxPreps Idaho Player of the Year after leading his team to the Class 5A state championship.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released in early January.
