IMG Academy leads 247Sports Top 25 most talented football teams

It's called the High School Football Team Talent Composite. In a nutshell, it ranks teams based on their college recruits.

Based on 2015 rosters and top recruits, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) ranked No. 1, according to 247Sports.

With five five-star recruits, including the nation's top-ranked pro-style quarterback Shea Patterson (Ole Miss commit), the top tight end in the country Isaac Nauta (Georgia) and three defensive players, the Ascenders were an easy pick. They also had 14 four-star recruits, a massive number.

IMG Academy totaled 129.83 points based on the 247Sports system, more than seven points better then No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), which boasts two five-star recruits in the dynamic junior passing combination of quarterback Tate Martell (Texas A&M) to Tyjon Lindsey (uncommitted).

The top recruits translated well on the field as well. Both teams went unbeaten, a combined 23-0, with Gorman (15-0) winning its sixth straight Nevada state title.

IMG Academy, which isn't part of the FHSAA system, finished No. 9 in the MaxPreps National Computer Rankings, presented by the Army National Guard. Gorman finished No. 7.

St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), which finished No. 3 in the Team Talent Composite, won a Florida 7A state title, finished 13-1 and was No. 21 in the national computer rankings.

Florida dominated the Top 25 Team Talent Composite with six teams, followed by four from Georgia, three each from California and Texas, two each from Michigan and Maryland and one each from Nevada, Virginia, New Jersey, Alabama and Arizona.
