Video: MaxPreps Top 10 Games of the WeekTwo marquee Florida matchups lead this week's action. Two big-time Sunshine State showdowns lead this week's slate of games.
No. 14 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) looks to get back on track against an undefeated Deerfield Beach (Fla.) team. The Raiders are coming off a bye and lost their last game, 43-27, to No. 5 Miami Central.
In the other Florida matchup featured this week No. 13 Carol City (Miami) takes on one of the favorites to win the 8A state title, Miami Southridge.
A couple of California games are in this week's slate as the No. 1 team in the country, St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), faces its second straight tough Trinity League opponent against Ryan Hilinski and Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.). Up in Northern California a huge Sierra Foothill League contest is going down between Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) and Del Oro (Loomis, Calif.).
Two of the top teams from the DMV area just outside of the Top 25 square off when Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) hosts Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.).
The other five games feature a huge New Jersey showdown between Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) and St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, N.J.). Two of the top teams from Pacific Northwest face off — Eastside Catholic (Sammamish, Wash.) and O'Dea (Seattle). Deerfield Beach is a win away from jumping into the Top 25 as the Bucks are one of the first five teams out and a statement victory over St. Thomas Aquinas would secure a spot. The Raiders suffered their only loss of the season against No. 5 Miami Central on Sept. 21 and face another big-time test on Friday night. Knighton, a 2020 Oklahoma commit, broke the school's record for most rushing yards in a game with 348 yards last week and if Deerfield Beach wants to pull off the upset it's going to need a big night from the 4-star running back.
