Duncanville is the lone Texas squad among the Xcellent 25 national rankings.
A midseason loss to California power Sierra Canyon hasn't hurt Duncanville one bit. In fact, the Panthers (16-2) were perhaps galvanized by it.
Since that 66-63 home loss to the Trailblazers, Duncanville has rattled off 11 straight wins, including triumphs over Skyline (Dallas) 66-43 and Lake Highlands (Dallas), 59-54, to maintain the top spot in the MaxPreps Texas Top 25 boys basketball rankings released on Tuesday.
In the win over Lake Highlands, Texas Tech-signee
Micah Peavy scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds and four assists. The 6-foot-7 senior guard is averaging 15.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game for the Panthers (16-2).
Lancaster (20-2) and John Paul II (27-1) hold down the next two spots in the computer rankings. John Paul's only defeat was 63-60 to Memorial (Fresco) on Nov. 26. Since then, the Cardinals have rattled off 19 straight wins, including a 71-59 triumph over Bishop Lynch (Dallas) last week, and average 82.4 points on the season.
Lancaster opened the season with an 89-83 loss to Duncanville, beat Kimball 75-55, lost to nationally-ranked Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.), 69-47, before winning 19 straight. The Tigers had no trouble with Terrell on Saturday, winning 104-36, helping their season scoring average of 79.4.
