Del Oro (Loomis, Calif.).
The Grizzlies put up seven points in the opening frame. Granite Bay scored on a touchdown catch by
Steven Graber.
The lead that GB took on a touchdown catch by Graber with 3:00 remaining in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
Brandon Monroe played well for the Golden Eagles. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
Graber stood out for the Grizzlies in the win. The senior tight end caught one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
Del Oro's lone touchdown came on a 75-yard run by Monroe in the second quarter.
Granite Bay entered the contest giving up 25.0 points per game this year. GB held firm on the defensive front, and kept DO well below the 21.1 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory will ease some of the sting of the Grizzlies' close 28-24 loss to the Loomis school last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Del Oro, which notched a 24-7 victory over Roseville in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Golden Eagles' 3-game winning streak. With the win Granite Bay extended its winning streak to four games.
Granite Bay (5-3) goes up against Woodcreek in a Sierra Foothill game matchup next week, while Del Oro (3-5) locks horns with Nevada Union also in a Sierra Foothill game.
