The past weekend of high school football saw no shortage of insane statistical performances. We are highlighting some of those in the latest edition of Stat Freaks of the Week.
Reese Roller of
Verdigris (Claremore) tops the list after recording 18 tackles and six sacks in a 17-0 Thursday night win over Cascia Hall in an Oklahoma showdown.
The Cardinals improved to 6-1 as the senior powered into the backfield on seemingly every play. Not only was Roller sacking the quarterback, but he stopped ballcarriers in their tracks several yards behind the line of scrimmage on multiple occasions.
On one play, the opposing quarterback tossed the ball to his running back just before the pass rush rolled in. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker was already nearly at the quarterback. Roller quickly stopped, reversed direction and turned on the jets to catch the runner from behind to prevent the first down.
Seniors
Brock Wilson and
Ezra Harris of
Stansbury (Stansbury Park, Utah) are two more Stat Freaks. Taking snaps under center, Harris ran the ball 19 times for 159 rushing yards and a touchdown while tossing the ball all over the field for 403 yards and fours scores.
Two of those passing touchdowns were to his receiver Brock Wilson, who piled up 205 receiving yards. Wilson continued to amaze and had 203 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground in a 71-43 win.
