The National High School Invitational has routinely been one of the top, if not the top, high school baseball tournaments since its 2012 inception, but this year the tournament directors at USA Baseball may have outdone themselves.
USA Baseball, which puts on the Cary (N.C.) tournament along with the help of the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance, has put together arguably the strongest field in the tournament's nine seasons. A total of eight teams that finished in the MaxPreps Computer Rankings from 2019 will play in this year's event, including three-time defending champion Orange Lutheran (Orange. Calif.).
The tournament tops the list of the MaxPreps Top 10 high school baseball tournaments for 2020.
1. National High School Invitational
Dates: April 1-4
Location: National Training Complex, Cary (N.C.)

Baylor (Chattanooga, Tenn.),
Regis Jesuit (Aurora, Colo.) and
Red Land (Lewisberry, Pa.) also figure in the mix, along with traditional powers
American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.),

JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.),
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), Orange Lutheran and
Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) are all playing in the Boras Classic along with defending Southern Section Division 1 champion
Cypress (Calif.) and SoCal powers
La Mirada (Calif.), Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) and
