It was an eventful weekend for Pennsylvania high school basketball star
Adou Thiero of
Quaker Valley (Leetsdale). Not only was he named first team Class 4A All-State by the Pennsylvania Sport Writers, but he ended his recruitment by committing to Kentucky on Sunday, according to multiple reports.
Thiero's stock erupted in recent months after averaging 23.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 3.9 steals per game as a senior, leading Quaker Valley to a 27-1 record and trip to the Class 4A state championship game.
In addition to Kentucky, programs like Cincinnati, Maryland, Pittsburgh and Xavier all extended offers to the 6-foot-5 guard since the end of Quaker Valley's season.

Moon Area (Moon Township), which is less than 10 miles from Quaker Valley High School.
Thiero's father, Almamy, stands 6-9 and played at Memphis and Duquesne. His mom, Mariam, is 6-3 and was selected in the 2006 WNBA draft.
