Season Preview:University is coming off its best season in school history, finishing 2017-18 ranked No. 2 in the MaxPreps Final Top 25 national rankings.
The Sharks return three of five starters, including the deadliest combination in high school basketball — Carey Jr. and Barnes.
The elite duo has the opportunity to carry a new supporting cast to the same heights as last season, with aspirations of leading the Sharks to consecutive state titles and their first GEICO Nationals championship.
The Sharks lose head coach Adrian Sosa, but new head man, Jim Carr, has built another strong supporting cast around the 5-star centerpieces to compete against one of the toughest schedules in the country.
The Sharks travel to the City of Palms Classic, Les Schwab Invitational and Spalding Hoophall Classic to face Federal Way, with plenty of resume-building opportunities throughout the year.
These Sharks may have some new pieces, but begin 2018-19 with the same expectations after a magical run to the GEICO Nationals title game last season.
