If not for a single season at Wellington in 2011, Andale coach Dylan Schmidt might have the most incredible start to any high school football coaching career.
In his first head coaching job, Schmidt went 3-6 at Wellington before returning to his alma mater to assist head coach Gary O'Hair at Andale. Schmidt got the head job in 2017 and hasn't lost a regular season game in six seasons with the Indians. After a 12-1 season in his first year and an 11-1 finish in 2018, Schmidt and Andale haven't lost a game since.
As a result, Andale has won 51 games in a row and leads MaxPreps' list of the longest active win streaks in the nation.
The Indians have won four straight Kansas Class 3A state championships, going 13-0 in 2019, 12-0 in 2020 and back-to-back 13-0 seasons in 2021 and 2022. Schmidt has a career coaching record of 77-8 while going 74-2 at Andale.
Behind Andale is John Milledge Academy (Milledgeville, Ga.), which last year broke the Georgia record for consecutive wins. The Trojans' streak is 49, breaking the mark of 47 set by Buford from 2001 to 2004.
The only school in position this season to break a standing record for consecutive wins is Fall River (McArthur, Calif.), which begins the season with 30 consecutive wins. While the Bulldogs are certainly a long way from breaking the state record of 151 by De La Salle (Concord), they are seven wins away from breaking the Northern Section record (California is a federation, not an association like most states, and is divided into 10 sections). Willows set the Northern Section mark between 1950 and 1953 with 36 in a row.
Schools are listed with the number of consecutive wins, the first win and date in the streak, the scoring average (and defensive scoring average) during the streak, the season opener and the state record where that school plays.

Andale enters the 2023 high school football season riding a 51-game win streak. The Indians have won four straight Kansas 3A titles with their run that started Sept. 6, 2019. (Photo: Norman Tackett)
