Averaging a preposterous 49 points per game, Girard, a Syracuse commit, banked home his 49th and 50th point of the game. He sent the game into overtime with a long three-pointer. Watch the game highlights below.
After he made the winning shot, he raised his arms straight into the air and sprinted with teammates to the Glens Falls cheering section at Floyd L. Maines Veteran Memorial Arena, where they were mobbed.
Girard, also a star quarterback, led the school's football team to its second state title in three years during the fall.
But this one was clearly different. This was the Indians' first state basketball crown. They play in the Federation Tournament this weekend at Glens Falls.
"There are a lot of things going through my mind," he told reporters after the game. "I couldn't do it without the local community here. We travel well, we're behind each other and I couldn't do it without these guys."
Girard broke Lance Stephenson's state career scoring record of 2,946 last season as a junior and now has 4,678 career points.
