USA Baseball has announced the matchups for the inaugural National High School Invitational, set for March 28-31 in Cary, N.C.
The tournament, which features a number of teams ranked in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Rankings, has several outstanding matchups in the first round, including a battle between Mater Dei and Bishop Gorman.
Another showdown features Carroll (Corpus Christi) against one of Florida's top programs, Gulliver Prep. Another one to watch is the first-round matchup between Parkview vs. George Washington
Based on last week's Xcellent 25 rankings, the brackets feature three of the top four teams in the country on the same side of the bracket - 1. Bishop Gorman, 3. Carroll and 4. Mater Dei.
Other first round matchups include American Heritage vs. Oxford, Harvard-Westlake vs. Russell County, Brookwood vs. Highlands Ranch, Columbus vs. Orange Lutheran and Sarasota vs. Lee County.
