MaxPreps National Player of the Year
Keagan Rothrock of
Roncalli (Indianapolis) headlines the 2022 MaxPreps All-America Team, highlighting the 60 best players from the recently-completed season. Selections include statistical leaders and state champions with most planning to continue their careers at the collegiate level.
Committed to Florida, Rothrock was dominant for the MaxPreps National Champions. The junior went 28-0 and fanned 382 batters in 170 innings. She threw eight no-hitters and 19 shutouts while batting .523 with 14 home runs.
Softball fans get to see Rothrock back in a high school uniform for one more year when she returns for her senior campaign at Roncalli, which went 33-0 this spring and is 64-2 over the past two seasons.

Jade Berry, Jr., Queen Creek (Ariz.)Utility player and LSU commit smashed 18 home runs, knocked in 62 runs and batted .495.
Ava Brown, Jr., Lake Creek (Montgomery, Texas)Florida commit was the ace for one of the best teams in the country. She went 36-0 in the circle with a 0.46 ERA and 335 strikeouts. She also hit 10 home runs.
Kenleigh Cahalan, Sr., Hewitt-Trussville (Trussville, Ala.)Alabama signee reached base nearly 70 percent of the time as she walked an eye-popping 46 times. The infielder also smashed 13 home runs and hit .529.
Katelyn Cochran, Sr., North Augusta (S.C.)Ended her historic Yellowjacket career with her 900th strikeout while capturing the Class AAAA state championship.
Mihyia Davis, Sr., Lovelady (Texas)An All-State player in three sports, the center fielder finished her senior season on the diamond batting .659.
Jocelyn Erickson, Sr., O'Connor (Phoenix)Oklahoma commit finished tied for second nationally with 25 home runs this season. The utility player batted .624.
Jasmine Francik, So., Melbourne (Fla.)Class of 2024 pitcher guided her team to a 6A state championship as she went 19-1 with a 0.16 ERA.
Leighann Goode, Sr., O'Connor (Helotes, Texas)Texas commit was the centerpiece to the Panthers' first state championship. The shortstop batted nearly .500 and hit seven long balls.
Brooke Gray, Jr., Ballard (Louisville, Ky.)Finished with 380 strikeouts in 186 innings of work as she helped the Bruins to their first ever state title.
Sami Hood, Sr., Allen (Texas)Wichita State signee hit 20 home runs this year for the Eagles. She also batted .463 and drove in in 64 runs.
Alyssa Houston, Jr., Benton (Ark.)Went 14-0 in the circle and was a major contributor at the plate hitting over .400 with 11 home runs for the 34-0 Panthers.
Addison Jackson, Jr., St. Amant (La.)Boston College commit helped her team win a second consecutive Class 5A title. She went 30-2 in the circle.
Micaela Kastor, Sr., Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.)Headed to Notre Dame, SoCal senior was 25-1 with a 0.51 ERA and 256 strikeouts. At the plate she hit .522 with 11 long balls.
Dakota Kennedy, Sr., Sheldon (Sacramento, Calif.)Flawless in the outfield and could do it all at the dish. Florida pledge hit 13 home runs, had a .565 on-base percentage and swiped 14 bags.
Kaysen Korth, Sr., Riverton (Utah)Utah Player of the Year posted a 25-1 record with a 0.55 ERA and 274 strikeouts. She also did damage at the plate batting .549.
Karsi Lentz, Sr., Hartselle (Ala.)The infielder had a monster year hitting 25 bombs, drove in a national-best 91 runs and finished with a .478 average.
Payton List, Sr., Beaver (Pa.)Virginia Tech commit struck out 230 batters and ended the year a 19-1 record and 0.49 ERA.
River Mahler, Sr., Monroe (Wash.)The Stanford commit did it all for the Bearcats as a talented shortstop and near-impossible out at the plate. She ended up batting .691.
Nikki McGaffin, Sr., Fossil Ridge (Fort Collins, Colo.)Finished the fall 23-3 in the circle with 1.07 ERA. During her four year career with the Sabercats, Arkansas commit went 74-9 overall with 25 complete games.
Maddie Mckee, Jr., Lake CreekLSU commit was solid on both sides as a middle infielder and hitter. She stole 77 bases, batted .511, drove in 47 runs, and hit seven home runs.
Jessica Oakland, Sr., Saint Francis (Mountain View, Calif.)The infielder and Minnesota commit hit 21 home runs, batted .578, drove in 67 runs and finished with a 14-game hitting streak.
Katelynn Oxley, So., Bartow (Fla.)One of the most dominant pitchers in the country finished with a 0.10 ERA in 140 innings of work. She struck out 337 batters and also hit .459 at the plate.
Corine Poncho, Sr., Notre Dame (Crowley, La.)The utility player and nation's home run leader smashed 32 bombs this year while driving in 72 runs.
Larissa Preuitt, Sr., Hartselle The Alabama commit and outfielder hit over .550. She showed her power with seven home runs and 60 RBI.
Kenna Raye Dark, Sr., Eastern Alamance (Mebane, N.C.)Powerful right-handed pitcher had nearly 300 strikeouts and finished with a 0.51 ERA in 179 innings. The North Carolina signee was a leader for one of the top squads in the country.
Amber Reed, Jr., North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.)Lefty ace was a huge reason the Bulldogs won the AAAAAAA state championship in the fall, going 25-0-1 with a 0.93 ERA. She also hit 12 home runs.
Makenna Reid, Sr., Tigard (Ore.)Florida State signee struck out 438 batters in 199 innings. She finished her career striking out 21 in 1-0, 10-inning victory in the Class 6A state championship game.
Brianna Roberts, Jr., Monroe-Woodbury (Central Valley, N.Y.)She was nearly flawless with a 0.49 ERA and 252 strikeouts in 142 innings of work. A key to the Crusaders' 25-0 season and their finish as the top team in the state.
Second teamMakena Alexander, Jr., Frankton (Ind.)Put up monster numbers in 2022, finishing in the top five in the state in the majority of all hitting categories. She was intentionally walked at least 15 times and had a hit in all 27 games.
Faith Aragon, Jr., Carlsbad (N.M.)Won 16 games as a pitcher and hit 15 home runs at the plate as the Cavegirls finished as the state's top team.
Tayler Biehl, Sr., Vista del Lago (Folsom, Calif.)Arizona commit and shortstop for the Eagles has a great glove in the field, stole 19 bases, hit eight home runs, batted .590 and finished with a .663 on-base percentage.
Lyla Blackwell, Jr., RoncalliSpeedy outfielder caused havoc on the bases as she stole 34 bags. The Virginia Tech commit had 19 multi-hit games.
Natalie Bowser, Jr., Keystone (Knox, Pa.)Despite being pitched around the majority of the year, the utility player still hit .629 with 11 home runs.
Hallie Burns, Jr., Booneville (Miss.)Ole Miss pledge threw a no-hitter and hit a home run during the series-clinching state title game as the Blue Devils took home their second consecutive 3A championship.
NiJa Canady, Sr., Topeka (Kan.)Stanford signee helped the Trojans to another Class 6A state championship. The powerful pitcher and slugger struck out 10 in the 2-1 title victory.
Bridget Donahey, Sr., Xavier College Prep (Phoenix)Infielder and Northwestern commit hit .524 with 14 home runs and 46 RBI. She finished with 14 multi-hit games.
Riley Flynn, Sr., Xavier College PrepHarvard commit and main pitcher for the 6A state champions finished 20-3 in the circle, striking out 215.
Kathryn Gallant, Sr., Masuk (Monroe, Conn.)Headed to Villanova, she finished her senior year 20-1 with a 0.65 ERA. She helped the Panthers win a fourth-straight Class L state championship.
Abbey Hofmann, Jr., RoncalliHit 10 home runs and batted .521 for the top-ranked team in the country.
McKinnon Howard, Sr., Central (Phenix City, Ala.)Led the country with 91 total hits while batting .599 and piling up 29 multi-hit games.
Delaney Keith, Sr., Skyview (Nampa, Idaho)Shortstop helped the Hawks to a second consecutive 5A state championship. She had a .700 on-base percentage this season after being walked 33 times
Madison Knight, Sr., Patterson Mill (Bel Air, Md.)Syracuse signee allowed six earned runs in 133 innings. She also hit 11 long balls and batted .554.
Kendra Lewis, So., Rockridge (Taylor Ridge, Ill.)Finished 24-0 with a 0.96 ERA and 222 strikeouts leading her team to another undefeated state championship season.
Gianna Mares, Jr., Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, Ariz.)Her 15 home runs and 18-0 record in the circle were a huge reason the Lancers won the 4A state title.
K.K. Mathis, Sr., Lakota West (West Chester, Ohio)James Madison commit hit .600 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI. She did damage in the circle as well, winning 22 games.
Jolie Mayfield, Jr., RivertonInfielder hit 19 home runs, batted .596 and drove in 65 RBI for the Utah 6A state champions.
Cadey McDaniel, Sr., Lexington (Tenn.)Responsible for 35 of her team's 51 wins, including a 2-1 victory over Gibbs to capture the 3A state title.
Ruby Meylan, Sr., Skutt Catholic (Omaha, Neb.)Washington signee smashed 18 home runs and was the ace for the 33-0 Skyhawks.
Avari Morris, Jr., Green Valley (Henderson, Nev.)She was a rock for the Class 5A state champions, winning 17 games while also batting .450.
Taylor Pannell, Sr., Lee's Summit West (Lee's Summit, Mo.)Huge reason why Titans captured a 5A state championship in the fall. The Missouri commit won 21 games in the circle.
Avery Sapp, Jr., Spanish Fork (Utah)Struck out 258 batters in 149 innings to go 21-3 with a 0.94 ERA. Also hit 11 home runs and batted .534.
Abigail Savoy, Sr., Notre Dame LSU commit showed why she has one of the best left-handed bats in the country. The infielder blasted 24 home runs, drove in 81 and finished with a .566 average.
Sydney Schwartz, Sr., Chanhassen (Minn.)Minnesota commit finished 21-2 on the season striking out 225 batters in 148 innings of work. She put up big numbers as a hitter as well blasting 13 home runs with a .560 batting average.
Jules Scogna, Sr., Spring-Ford (Royersford, Pa.)Boston University signee helped her team win the school's first PIAA championship. The right-handed pitcher threw a complete game, two-hitter in the final.
Morgan Sizemore, Jr., Allen Park (Mich.)Pitching ace and powerful left-handed hitter helped the Jaguars win the school's first ever MHSAA Division 1 State Championship.
Sydney Somnerdike, Sr., Villa Park (Calif.)Finished her career with nearly 700 strikeouts. The Arizona commit missed several games this season but still went 14-1 on the bump with a 0.69 ERA and 179 strikeouts.
Desirae Spearman, Jr., Hanks (El Paso, Texas)Utility player for the Knights hit 24 home runs and batted .636. She also went 12-2 in the circle.
Kylee Trotter, Jr., Curry (Jasper, Ala.)Class 4A Hitter of the Year was and outfielder was a RBI machine as she drove in 82 runs. Hit 15 home runs and batted .468.
Tanya Windle , Sr., Cactus (Glendale, Ariz.) Utility player for the Cobras batted .765 and hit 21 home runs.
