Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench began his career as a pitcher, leading Binger to the state championship in the early 1960s. Now known as Binger-Oney, the Bobcats hold down the No. 1 spot in the small school rankings with a 19-1 record.
The other Oklahoma schools include Oktaha at No. 2, Silo at No. 6, Tushka at No. 7, Wister at No. 8 and Red Oak at No. 14.
Illinois has four teams in the rankings, including No. 4 Chicago Christian (Palos Heights). The rest of the top 5 include Evangelical Christian (Cordova, Tenn.) at No. 3 and Tattnall Square Academy (Macon, Ga.) at No. 5.
The small school rankings are based on the MaxPreps National Baseball Computer Rankings. Small schools include those schools that belong in state enrollment divisions that generally have less than 1,000 students. The team's overall record as of April 11 is included along with its computer rating.
