With Opening Day of the 2023 MLB season set for Thursday, we look back at where all of the starting pitchers went to high school. California has bragging rights this season as six of the 30 projected starters finished their high school career playing in the Golden State.
Two of them will face off as Logan Webb of the San Francisco Giants will take on Gerrit Cole and the New York Yankees. Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, Shane Bieber and Hunter Greene round out of the rest of the Golden State.
Florida comes in second with five including former Cy Young Award winners Jacob deGrom and Zack Greinke.
In total, 11 states are represented along with the Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico and Venezuela.
