1. Mission Viejo, Southern Section – 35Mission Viejo, which has won two state titles over the past two seasons, last lost to Mater Dei in the 2013 CIF Southern Section quarterfinals. The Diablos have been carving up opponents this season, averaging 42 points per game on offense while giving up a stingy 14 points per game. Senior

2. Joshua Springs Christian (Yucca Valley), Southern Section (8-man) – 25The Lightning last lost two years ago this month, a 34-30 loss to Desert Christian Academy. Joshua Springs went on to win the CIFSS 8-Man Division 2 title that year and again in 2015 with a 72-6 thumping of Desert Chapel. This season, the 6-0 Lightning have given up a mere 48 points. 3. Narbonne (Harbor City), Los Angeles City Section – 19
Narbonne's streak is third in the state and tops in the Los Angeles City Section.

The Gauchos' win streak started in 2015 with a 54-6 win over Paramount one week after a 41-40 Week 3 overtime loss to Serra (Gardena). Narbonne went on to beat Clayton Valley Charter 28-14 in the Division I-A state bowl game that year. This season, the Gauchos have outscored opponents 215-38. Narbonne is led by senior back

Jalen Chatman's 1,414 yards passing and 15 scoring strikes.
4. East Nicolaus (Nicolaus), Northern Section – 17The Spartans' last defeat was to a 23-16 loss to Durham last September, a loss they avenged 38-20 against the Trojans in the Northern Section playoffs. East Nic beat Coronado 16-6 a month later for the Division VI-AA state bowl title. Replacing workhorse running back Donavan Switalski for the Spartans are senior backs
Steven Brown (688 yards and seven touchdowns) and
Nolan Goyet (618 yards, 14 touchdowns).
5. Avalon, Southern Section (8-man) – 16The Lancers avenged their last loss – a 42-30 defeat to Mojave in the 2014 8-man Division I semifinals – with an undefeated 2015 capped by a 50-8 throttling of the Mustangs in the 2015 title game. This season, Avalon is 5-0 and outscoring foes 274-98. Not bad for a team that literally lives on an island far from the mainland.
6. Rancho Bernardo (San Diego), San Diego Section – 15After Palomar League foe Westview beat Rancho Bernardo 20-17 last October, the Broncos reeled off nine straight. They capped off 2015 with a 35-14 Division III-A bowl win over Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton). This season the Broncos are allowing a miserly 10 points per game as linebacker
Ramon Colon is averaging 8.7 tackles per game and defensive lineman
Aric Tateyama is averaging 8.2 tackles per contest.
7. Half Moon Bay, Central Coast Section – 9
The Cougars dropped their final regular season game last season – a rivalry
game 38-28 loss to Pacifica’s Terra Nova on Nov. 13. Half Moon Bay then ran
through the Central Coast Section Division 5 playoffs, capping it off with a
54-7 drubbing of Pacific Grove. This season, the Cougars are outscoring
opponents, on average, 39-19.
8. Redwood (Visalia), Central Section – 9
The Rangers rebounded from a 28-14 loss to El Diamante on Oct. 23 last
season to close the year out with wins over Hanford West and Mt. Whitney – a 45-14
win in the 61st Cowhide Game. This week, Redwood plays El Diamante.
Senior quarterback Frankie Ayon has thrown for 1,452 yards and 17 touchdowns this
season.
9. Calvin Christian (Escondido), San Diego Section (8-man) – 8
It didn’t take long for the Crusaders to avenge
their last loss. Calvin Christian’s last loss was 36-16 to Rock Christian on
Oct. 30 of last year. Less than a month later, the Crusaders destroyed the
Warriors 68-8. This year, Calvin Christian has three rushers with more than six scores in Wesley Salzman, Daniel Esguerra and Mason Crouch, while quarterback Matt Lafler
has thrown for seven scores.

The Braves' last loss was 34-31 to Thousand Oaks in the 2015 Southern Section
quarterfinals.

The Titans’ last loss was to Moreau Catholic, 48-14, in the opening round of
the 2015 North Coast Section playoffs.
