The Tennessee high school football season had its big opening night Friday with a dozen of the state's Top 25 teams taking the field.
The highest-ranked team in action was defending Division I Class 6A state champion Maryville, who extended its overall win streak to 16 games with a 49-7 win over William Blount. The Rebels led 42-7 at halftime.
No. 3 Brentwood Academy broke open a close game against head coach Trent Dilfer and Lipscomb Academy in the third quarter, eventually winning 29-19.
One ranked team takes the field Saturday as No. 5 Alcoa takes on Blackman.
