The much-anticipated kick off to the 2020 high school football season in Oklahoma is set for Aug. 28. Even though only six starters return, the Spartans from Bixby begins at No. 1 just as it ended it in 2019 in the MaxPreps computer rankings.
The Spartans piled up 732 points and allowed 173 en route to a second straight Class 6A-II championship in 2019. Bixby, after its sixth state title since 2014, is led by 5-foot-10, 180-pound senior quarterback
Mason Williams, junior running back
Braylin Presley (5-7, 180) and offensive lineman
Cody Paschall (6-2, 240).
Following Bixby in the preseason rankings is Jenks, which finished 8-5 last year while losing a tough 14-6 game to Owasso in the 6A-1 title game.
Jenks was ranked the most dominant team in the state over the last decade in a computer-generated compilation of points earned through championships and state rankings. Jenks returns 13 starters including 6-6, 270-pound offensive lineman
Logan Nobles, along with running back
Grant Lohr (6-0, 185) and tight end-linebacker
Waylon Adams (6-4, 225).
Owasso, which finished 13-0 last season, comes in at No. 4 to start the season, just behind Broken Arrow (9-3). Of the preseason Top 25, only Owasso and Bixby went unbeaten in 2019.
