Joyce Edwards
of
Camden (S.C.)
, the 2022-23 MaxPreps Female National Athlete of the Year, finished her high school basketball career as the highest scoring player in the Class of 2024 with 3,966 points.
The South Carolina signee heads a list of over 130 players, compiled by MaxPreps, who finished the 2024 season with over 2,000 career points. Edwards edged
Saniya Burks
of
Rice (Texas)
, who had 3,822 points.
Minnesota had the next four players on the list, two of them being sophomores.
Tori Oehrlein
of
Crosby-Ironton (Crosby)
finished the season with 3,439 points in her four varsity seasons. The sophomore needs just 1,621 points to break the state career scoring mark of 5,060 points by Rebekah Dahlman.
If Oehrlein doesn't break the record, fellow sophomore
Maddyn Greenway
of
Providence Academy (Plymouth)
just might. She has 3,401 points in four seasons.
Sources for the list include the MaxPreps leaderboards, Minnesota Basketball Records and state association record books. The list includes players who competed on the varsity during their seventh and eighth grade seasons.
In addition to being the nation's top career scorer in the Class of 2024, Joyce Edwards of Camden (S.C.) was an all-stater in volleyball and soccer. (Photo: Becca Rouse)
