Video: Touchdowns Against Cancer
MaxPreps' President and Founder Andy Beal, explains the origins, significance of TAC campaign. While the football team of
Lausanne Collegiate (Memphis, Tenn.) continues to score touchdowns and extend its national lead,
Olmsted Falls (Olmsted Falls, Ohio), and
Chopticon (Morganza, Md.) surpassed big marks last week in the Touchdown Against Cancer drive for 2018.
Olmstead Falls ($3,388) moved into second place past 2017 champion Chopticon ($3,192), both surpassing the $3,000 mark.
Lausanne Collegiate, the two-time defending Tennessee Division II champions and
winners of 33 straight games, has raised a remarkable $17,780 with one week to go in the campaign.

The
Touchdown Cancer Campaign, sponsored by MaxPreps and Pledge It,
benefits cancers research for St. Jude Hospital. Teams raise
money for the cause by scoring touchdowns in September — Child Cancer Awareness Month.
There is still time to get involved, and every dollar/touchdown counts. Every pledge is deeply appreciated.
Rounding out the top 10 teams:
Pope John Paul II (Royersford, Pa.), $2,299;
Lone Peak (Gallatin Gateway, Mont.), $1,920,
Mead (Longmont, Colo.), $1,835;
Marlboro (N.J.), $1,812 and and
Bishop Montgomery (Torrance, Calif.), $1,685.
After
winning two games in August, Lausanne pulled out wins over Whitehaven
(Memphis) 26-23 in overtime, before scoring eight touchdowns in a 56-12
win over Craigmont and last week it piled up eight more touchdowns in a 55-14 win over St. George.
They'll finish their TAC campaign Friday at home against Evangelical Christian.
Senior players
Isaac Weiss and
Eric Gray have led the Lynx's charge in the TAC campaign.
"Cancer
has touched all of our lives in some way, and I want to make each point
that I score count toward something bigger than a win," Weiss said.
Gray, one of the state's top running backs, has rushed for 13 of his 19 touchdowns during the TAC campaign.
He scored six on Friday and needs just 12 rushing touchdowns to break the state career record of 114.
"When
Isaac told me about Pledge It, I knew it was the way that I could use
my love of football to benefit the awesome work happening at St. Jude."
Eric Gray scored six touchdowns last week for Lausanne Collegiate.
