Players to watch: Akoy Agau (6-8, Sr., F/C, Louisville verbal commit),
Tra-Deon Hollins (6-1, Sr., G),
Tre'Shawn Thurman (6-6, Jr., F),
Kevin Scott (6-1, Sr., G),
DeAndre Hollins-Johnson (5-10, Sr., G)
Strengths: Central has captured six of the last seven state Class A state titles in Nebraska and welcomes back its most talented cast during that run. Agau tallied a triple-double in last year's state championship game and was one blocked shot away from doing the same as a freshman. The future Louisville Cardinal is a Top 100 recruit nationally but just one of many weapons in the program's balanced attack. Hollins averaged more than 12 points per game as a junior and was a second team All-State selection. Thurman and Scott both posted more than eight points per game a year ago and were Omaha All-Metro picks.
Question marks: Are the Eagles simply a bully in a state not known for producing national-caliber high school basketball programs, or a genuine superpower? Central will have the opportunity to prove it belongs with the big boys at the City of Palms Classic in December. The Eagles will also host
Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) in February.
