The high school football season in Arkansas came to a close over the weekend with championship games Class 3A and Class 4A. Earlier in the month, Pulaski Academy (Little Rock) won its second consecutive Class 5A championship,
this time with a dominating 64-27 win over Little Rock Christian Academy (Little Rock).
That
victory, coupled with an 13-0 record and tremendous play this season, makes Pulaski Academy the 2020 MaxPreps Champion for the
state of Arkansas.
Always high-powered offensively, the Bruins averaged over 50 points per contest led by a pair of 2,000-yard passers and a near-2,000-yard rusher.
Junior signal caller
Charlie Fiser completed 214 of 320 passes for 2,761 yards and 38 touchdowns while senior
Nolen Bruffett completed 141 of 218 passes for 2,055 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Junior running back
Joseph Himon also had a monster year with 189 carries for 1,925 yards with 23 touchdowns. In the passing game, he piled up 80 receptions for 1,068 yards and nine touchdowns.
The receiving unit also put up incredible numbers as five players hauled in over 50 receptions and three eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark. Senior
Jalyn Witcher had 77 catches for 1,206 yards and 20 touchdowns while senior
Cooper White had 63 receptions for 1,285 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Pulaski Academy outscored its opponents by an average of 27 points per game this season, capped off by a dominant postseason run that saw them outscore their opponents by an average score of 55-21.
