Leta Andrews and Joe Lombard, a pair of retired longtime Texas coaches, are the top two names on the girls basketball all-time coaching wins list. But Lamar Rogers of
Clarkrange (Tenn.) is closing in quickly.
Rogers' Buffaloes have regularly posted 20-plus win seasons over the past decade, including a 38-0 season in 2009. With 1,289 wins and 290 losses since he started coaching in 1976, Rogers is 90 wins from tying Lombard and just under 130 wins from surpassing Andrews.
Andrews is the all-time coaching wins leader in girls basketball with 1,416 at four Texas schools from 1962 to 2014. Lombard is next with 1,379 wins from 1978 to 2020, mostly at Canyon.
Following closely behind Rogers is another Texas coach, Rhonday Farney of
Georgetown. Since she started coaching in 1975, Farney has racked up 1,237 career wins, putting her second among active coaches and No. 4 all-time.
Rogers and Farney are the two names on top of the active girls basketball coaches with the most wins. Sources, in many cases, were the coaches themselves, who replied to our inquiry requesting their career record. Each coach is listed with their career record at the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, the year they started coaching and the source of their record.
