The
Los Angeles Times reported Friday that the Black Eyed Peas will be performing at halftime of the East L.A. Classic high school football game between
Garfield (Los Angeles) and
Roosevelt (Los Angeles) at the famed Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 21.
In 2011, the musical group headlined the Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
will.i.am, the Black Eyed Peas lead member, grew up about five minutes from Roosevelt and has consistently given back and been a role model for his hometown.
The schools have played annually since 1925 with the exception of 1939-48 and 2020.
Garfield also has a strong rushing attack with junior
Damian Cornejo, who has 741 rushing yards for the 4-2 Bulldogs.
