MaxPreps 2015-16 Iowa preseason high school girls basketball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Waukee
Head coach: Justin Ohl
2014-15 record: 25-6

The power in Iowa is in the 5A division, the largest in the state, and Waukee brings back lots of talent from a team that lost in the 5A state semifinals. Reilly Jacobson, a 6-foot-1 senior power forward, will do a lot of the heavy lifting.

2. Johnston
Head coach: Brad Buchan
2014-15 record: 22-8

Johnston has a plethora of inside presence, and that could be enough for the Dragons to breathe fire on the rest of the 5A teams. But the key will be getting the tall girls the ball.

3. Ankeny Centennial
Head coach: Scott DeJong
2014-15 record: 22-6

Scott DeJong won six state titles at Ankeny, but when the city opened a new high school in 2014, he moved to Centennial – and it hasn't take long for him to build a top-five program.

4. Southeast Polk (Pleasant Hill)
Head coach: Tracy Dailey
2014-15 record: 16-7

Sierra Mitchell and Ashton Donels lead Southeast Polk, which won a state title in 2013 and finished second in 2014, so there's definitely tradition to build on. Size, however, would help too, and the Rams may come up short (so to speak) in that department.

5. Iowa City
Head coach: Bill McTaggart
2014-15 record: 23-10

Courtney Joens leads a solid roster that has depth, but must overcome the loss of seven seniors. The Little Hawks will also have to prove they can win in the postseason.
