The Braves successfully accomplished two of its many season-long goals this past weekend when they crushed
Mililani (Hawaii) 42-10 on Saturday.
Winning the game was most important to everyone associated with the Bosco program. But enjoying the aroma of the paradise atmosphere was likely deemed a second vital goal for the players when they stepped aboard the airplane for their trip to the 50th state.
Somehow when the players stepped onto the John Kauinana Stadium field at Mililani they acted as though they completely forgot about that second goal.
"We looked at this journey to Hawai‘i as a business trip, not as a vacation to enjoy the sun," St. John Bosco head coach Jason Negro after the game.
From the outset, No. 2 Bosco roared its offensive and defensive engines.
Star senior quarterback and Clemson commit
DJ Uiagalelei dismantled the Mililani secondary early with pinpoint passing.
On the Braves' first possession, Uiagalelei led a 12-play drive covering 88 yards that ended with a 33-yard catch by
Beaux Collins.
Defensively, after holding Mililani to a first possession 22-yard field goal from
Kaleilehuaamealani Navares, the Braves stopped Mililani on its next two possessions via interceptions by cornerback
Josh Alford.
Both interceptions allowed Bosco to quickly expand its lead. Alford returned the second 26 yards for a touchdown that gave the Braves a 21-3 lead at half.
St. John Bosco continued to enjoy great passing success in the second half.
In the third quarter, Uiagalel threw scoring strikes of 41 and 25 yards.
The California team cruised the rest of the game to improve to 5-0, all against out-of-state opponents.
Uiagalel connected on 22 of 29 attempts for 341 yards. The future Tiger also scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter.
Mililani fell to 6-1.
