MONTICELLO, Ky. -
Wayne County (Monticello, Ky.) snapped the seven-game winning streak of
Paducah Tilghman (Paducah, Ky.), with a 34-9 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the second quarter, the Cardinals were up 14-3 at the half.
Wayne County expanded its lead to 31 points entering the fourth quarter. WC scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown.
The Monticello school scored 20 points in the third quarter on the way to a win. The Cardinals scored on a passing touchdown, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in the quarter.
Paducah Tilghman's lone touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
Wayne County had given up an average of 10.5 points prior to the contest. The Blue Tornado came in surrendering 16.7 points per game this season.
The loss comes after Paducah Tilghman defeated South Warren 8-7 last week.
