Travis Perry of
Lyon County (Eddyville, Ky.) finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in the state of Kentucky, but that's only part of the story. Perry also ranks in the top 10 in the MaxPreps National High School Basketball Record Book in five different categories.
The six-year starter ranks No. 2 on the career list for both 3-pointers and field goals. He had 712 3-point baskets to place him behind Julian Newman of
Downey Christian (Orlando, Fla.) and
Prodigy Prep (Orlando, Fla.), who had 1,178 3-pointers in over eight seasons. Perry's 1,918 career field goals made ranks behind Bruce Williams of
Florien (La.), who had 2,296 field goals.
Perry also ranks No. 10 in career free throws made with 933. Newman holds the record with 1,404.
It should be noted that there are several all-time leading scorers, including Greg Procell of
Ebarb (Noble, La.) and Demond "Tweety" Carter of Reserve Christian (Reserve, La.), whose career 3-pointers, field goals and free throws are unknown.

Perry's 5,481 career points place him No. 7 on the all-time list. Carter is the top overall scorer with 7,494 points while Procell is second with 6,702.
Perry also ranks No. 8 in career steals with 650. Newman leads in that category as well with 810 steals. Perry also ranks No. 1 in the Kentucky state record book for all five categories.
There's another newcomer to the record book –
Sam Newcomer of
Fort Wayne HomeSchool (Fort Wayne, Ind.). His 3,108 career points put him at No. 205 on the all-time list. He also comes in at No. 25 for career field goals with 1,204. He ranks No. 16 in career free throws with 845.
