Milton capture their first state title since 2012, defeating Berkmar (Lilburn) 52-47 in the Class AAAAAAA title game. The Eagles were paced by
Kanaan Carlyle who finished with a game-high 15 points, while
Bruce Thornton had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Lebbeus Overton chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds.
Cross Creek (Augusta) stunned Sandy Creek (Tyrone) 57-49 in the Class AAA title game Friday evening. The Razorbacks finished the game on a 13-0 run, overcoming 19 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks from five-star senior
Jabari Smith.
In the nightcap Friday evening, Wheeler (Marietta) captured their second consecutive state
championship with a 71-61 victory over Kell (Marietta) in Class AAAAAA. The win was the Wildcats third over Kell this season, overcoming a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds from
Scoot Henderson in the losing effort.
The action started Wednesday night with Baldwin (Milledgeville) defeating Fayette County (Fayetteville) 54-53 in the Class AAAA championship game to capture the program's first state championship since 1981. Mount Pisgah Christian (Johns Creek) captured its first state championship in program history with a 43-41 victory over Holy Innocents Episcopal (Atlanta) in the Class A Private title game.
No. 18 Pace Academy (Atlanta) repeated as Class AA state champions, breezing past Columbia (Decatur) 73-42 behind senior Florida State signee
Matthew Cleveland who finished with 24 points, seven assists and five blocks in the victory.
In the nightcap on Thursday evening, Eagle's Landing (McDonough) capped off an impressive season with just one loss after defeating Tri-Cities (East Point) 81-69 in the Class AAAAA title game.
