What we saw from the absolutely dominating defensive lineman in Texas high school football translated at Texas A&M. Now the 6-foot-4, 272-pound defensive end is the consensus No. 1 pick in this week's NFL draft.
As the Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year for
Martin (Arlington, Texas), Garrett had 81 tackles, 19.5 sacks and four blocked kicks in the regular season alone. He was a first team MaxPreps All-American.
As a national recruit, he was the No. 2 player nationally at any position and top defensive end as ranked by
247Sports. He was 30 pounds lighter then he is now.
