Preseason Michigan All-State high school football team

Five of Michigan's top seven senior high school football prospects are on the offensive line. Not surprisingly, that unit headlines the 2020 MaxPreps preseason All-Michigan football team.

According to the 247sports composite ratings, only Texas has a higher ranked front five than the Great Lakes State. That's impressive. And so are the rest of the names below — one of which belongs to the nation's No. 1 defensive line prospect. First Team Offense

QB — Brendan Sullivan, Davison | 6-3 | 180 | Sr.
Northwestern commit is a Top 25 pro-style quarterback prospect nationally and Michigan’s No. 17 overall prospect. Threw for 3,044 yards and 33 touchdowns and rushed for 407 yards and 11 touchdowns last year en route to leading Davison to its first state final. Holds 14 offers. AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan.

QB — Zach Trainor, Walled Lake Western | 6-2 | 205 | Sr.
Threw for 3,843 yards, 44 touchdowns against four interceptions in 11 games (missed two with injury) as the Warriors reached the Division 2 state semifinals. Completed 74.5 percent of his passes and ran for four touchdowns. AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan. Holds offers from Florida Atlantic, Eastern Illinois and Southern Mississippi.

RB — Donovan Edwards, West Bloomfield | 5-11 | 190 | Sr.
No. 2 overall prospect in Michigan and the country’s No. 3 running back prospect. Rushed for 1,230 yards and 16 touchdowns and had 419 yards receiving with five touchdowns last season en route to being named AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan. Holds 44 offers including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, USC, Oklahoma and Penn State.

RB — Anthony Tyus III, Portage Northern | 6-1 | 207 | Sr.
Nation’s No. 56 running back prospect ran for 1,861 yards and 19 touchdowns on 199 carries last season for a 10-2 team that advanced to the D-II state quarterfinals. Named AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan. Holds 13 offers, including Cincinnati, Michigan State, Iowa State and Indiana. Northwestern is the heavy favorite.

WR — Jace Williams, Catholic Central (Grand Rapids) | 6-3 | 185 | Sr.
AP Division 3-4 All-Michigan selection had four catches for three touchdowns and 62 yards in the Division 4 state final (win over Detroit Country Day) last year. Ended season with 900 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Top 125 receiver prospect nationally holds 12 offers, including Boston College, Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan State. Has a 31.6-inch vertical. Also plays basketball.

WR — Andrel Anthony, East Lansing | 6-2 | 175 | Sr.
Top 100 receiver prospect nationally has hauled in 87 passes for 1,497 yards and 16 touchdowns the last two years. Holds 27 offers, including Notre Dame, Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern and Purdue. Michigan and Michigan State are the favorites. AP Division 3-4 All-Michigan honoree last season when he caught 54 passes for school records in receiving yards (954) and touchdowns (nine).

TE — Blake Nelson, Walled Lake Central | 6-4 | 235 | Sr.
Top 100 tight end prospect nationally. Holds 11 offers, including Cincinnati, Kentucky, Purdue, Rutgers, Central Michigan and Toledo.

OL — Rocco Spindler, Clarkston | 6-4 | 295 | Sr.
No. 2 guard prospect nationally and No. 3 overall prospect in Michigan. Two-way starter since freshman season. AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan. Holds 18 offers including Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Alabama, LSU and Wisconsin.

OL — Giovanni El-Hadi, Stevenson (Livonia) | 6-5 | 285 | Sr.
No. 4 overall prospect in Michigan and No. 9 tackle prospect nationally. Committed to Michigan. Gave up one sack in 138 pass attempts last year and had 53 pancake blocks. AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan.

OL — Garrett Dellinger, Clarkston | 6-6 | 280 | Sr.
No. 5 overall prospect in Michigan and No. 12 tackle prospect nationally. Holds 16 offers including Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and Ohio State. AP All-Michigan.

OL — Rayshaun Benny, Oak Park | 6-5 | 275 | Sr.
No. 6 overall prospect in Michigan and No. 20 tackle prospect nationally. Allowed one sack last year. Doubled as a defensive threat (75 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries). AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan. OL — Caleb Tiernan, Detroit Country Day (Beverly Hills) | 6-7 | 280 | Sr.
Northwestern recruit is Michigan’s No. 10 overall prospect. Holds 17 offers including Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State and Minnesota. Finished with 59 tackles, 22 tackles-for-loss and 8.5 sacks last season for the Division 4 state runner-up.

AP — Dillon Tatum, West Bloomfield | 5-11 | 180 | Jr.
Michigan’s No. 5 overall 2022 prospect and a Top 25 running back prospect nationally. Holds 27 offers, including Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Miami (Fla.) and Florida.

K — Luke Drzewiecki, Utica Eisenhower (Shelby Township) | 6-1 | 180 | Sr.
Hit 4-of-6 field-goal attempts and was 29-of-31 on extra points last year. Also, 78 percent of his kickoffs were touchbacks. Named to both the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News All-East Football Teams last season.

AP — Tyson Davis, Goodrich | 5-10 | 170 | Sr.
Three-time AP Division 3-4 All-Michigan selection has committed to Central Michigan. Caught 45 passes for 975 yards (21.7 per reception) and 11 touchdowns last year. Also rushed 29 times for 324 yards and four touchdowns and scored on a kickoff return. Defensively he had 70 tackles and seven interceptions.

P — Tommy Doman, St. Mary Prep (Orchard Lake) | 6-3 | 170 | Sr.
Committed to Michigan. Holds 10 offers, including Boston College, Washington State and Colorado State.

Second Team Offense

QB — Christian Dhue-reid, Belleville | 5-10 | 225 | Sr.
Four-year starter owns a 33-3 career record. AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan.

QB — Joey Silveri, Catholic Central (Grand Rapids) | 6-0 | 205 | Jr.
Accounted for 54 total touchdowns (35 passing, 19 rushing) en route to leading team to a 13-1 record and the Division 4 state title. AP Division 3-4 All-Michigan. Completed 171-of-273 passes for 2,845 yards and carried the ball 173 times for 1,033 yards.

Threw for over 2,700 yards and 33 touchdowns for Division 2 state finalist.

RB — Carson Vanderhoff, Caledonia | 6-0 | 195 | Sr.
Played in nine games last season, but managed to rush for 1,729 yards and 19 touchdowns. Added 384 yards receiving. Named AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan.

RB — David Holloman, Avondale (Auburn Hills) | 5-10.5 | 189 | Sr.
Country’s No. 73 running back prospect owns a blistering 4.39-second 40-yard dash. Ran for 1,236 yards and 14 touchdowns last year. Also had a touchdown on a kick return and on a punt return. Holds 20 offers, including West Virginia, Washington State, Nebraska, Maryland and Boston College. Committed to Indiana.

RB — Davion Primm, Oak Park | 6-0 | 201 | Sr.
Top 100 running back prospect nationally is headed to Michigan State. Ran for 1,123 yards on 95 carries last year. Other suitors include Colorado and Iowa State.

WR — Deion Burks, Belleville | 5-10 | 175 | Sr.
Selected AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan last year after catching 35 passes for 819 yards and 12 touchdowns. Top 125 receiver prospect nationally owns a 35-inch vertical. Country’s No. 66 athlete prospect is Buffalo’s highest ranked recruit in current class. Holds 15 offers and picked the Bulls over Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Pitt, Kentucky and Indiana.

K — Kollin Kralapp, Dakota (Macomb) | 6-1 | 175 | Sr.
Veteran soccer player (nine years of club) has visited Western Michigan, Ferris State and Saginaw Valley State. Doubles as a standout punter. Limited to four games last year due to injury (since recovered), but hit 2-of-3 field goals and 17-of-18 extra points. Averaged 37.5 yards with a long of 56 on six punt attempts.

AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan selection last year after registering 127 tackles, 18 tackles-for-loss and an interception. Also tied the MHSAA single-season record for blocked punts with seven.

Country’s No. 84 outside linebacker prospect has committed to Syracuse. Holds 12 offers, including Arizona State, Ohio, Army, Air Force and Toledo. AP Division 3-4 All-Michigan.

AP Division 5-6 All-Michigan had 164 tackles (95 solo), 12 tackles-for-loss, four sacks and nine quarterback hurries last year.

DB — Kaleb Chappell, Fowlerville | 5-11 | 175 | Sr.
AP Division 3-4 All-Michigan selection had 92 tackles, 13 pass breakups and three interceptions last season. Offensively, he rushed for almost 600 yards and scored five touchdowns. Track standout, too.

DB — Tyreese Oakes, Muskegon | 5-11 | 170 | Sr.
Posted impressive numbers last year with 78 tackles, 20 pass breakups, five tackles-for-loss and four interceptions. AP Division 3-4 All-Michigan. Holds seven offers, including Cincinnati, Army and Toledo.

DB — Saborn Campbell, Detroit Country Day (Beverly Hills) | 6-0 | 180 | Sr.
Top 125 safety prospect nationally owns a stunning 4.4 40-yard dash time. Committed to Stanford for baseball, had 38 tackles and eight interceptions for the Division IV state runner-up. Offensively registered  344 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

DB — Jaylin Mines, Oak Park | 6-1 | 190 | Sr.
Nation’s No. 60 safety prospect is Toledo’s second highest rated recruit in its current class. Holds 15 offers, including Penn State, Pitt, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Kentucky and Maryland.

DB — Armorian Smith, River Rouge | 6-2 | 190 | Sr.
Bearcats recruit is the country’s No. 65 safety prospect. Choose UC over Michigan State, Syracuse, West Virginia, Temple, Iowa State and others.

DB — De'Javion Stepney, Dakota (Macomb) | 6-0 | 180 | Sr.
Central Michigan’s highest rated recruit in current class. Country’s No 80 safety prospect. Picked CMU over Syracuse, Temple, Indiana, Iowa State and Cincinnati.

AP — Brady Rose, Mona Shores (Norton Shores) | 5-8 | 170 | Sr.
Helped Sailors to Division 2 state title with contributions on both sides of the ball. Defensively, notched six interceptions. On offense he carried the ball 87 times for 673 yards (7.7 per carry) and 14 touchdowns and caught 16 passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns. Played quarterback in the state semifinal and final (where he was 8-for-11 passing for 122 yards and a touchdown). AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan.

P — Tylor McCoon Traverse City Central | 6-4 | 205 | Sr.
Two-time AP first team All-Michigan. Averaged 43 yards per punt last season with long of 63. Doubles as first team all-conference defensive end (53 tackles and 7.5 tackles-for-loss).
