Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Anna Trusty of
Greenwood is the 2023-24 Arkansas MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot senior guard led the Bulldogs to a 27-4 record and third straight Class 5A state championship.
For the season, Trusty averaged 19.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 2.3 assists per game. She was named most valuable player in Greenwood's 77-51 win over Vilonia in the state title game after putting up 18 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Trusty leaves Greenwood as the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,935 points. The Bulldogs went 86-10 over the past three seasons with three state titles.
Boston University, Drury, Long Beach State, Pittsburg State and Texas-Rio Grande Valley are among the college programs that have extended offers to Trusty, who is uncommitted.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
