Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in
high school basketball. America's source for high school sports
continues the tradition to close out the 2022-23 season by naming the
top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and
individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Milan Momcilovic of
Pewaukee is the 2022-23 MaxPreps Wisconsin High School Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-8 senior forward led the Pirates to a 27-3 record and their third consecutive Division 2 state title.
On the season, Momcilovic averaged 23.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 58.3 percent from the field, 41.4 percent from 3-point range and 87.9 percent from the free throw line.
Momcilovic was the catalyst in Pewaukee's 71-54 state title game victory over Whitnall (Greenfield), tallying a game-high 29 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
Headed to Iowa State next season, Momcilovic is regarded as the No. 35 prospect in the Class of 2023 according to 247Sports. Michigan State, Texas and UCLA were among other programs to extend offers.

Menomonee Falls was the 2021-22 Wisconsin Player of the Year.
