The biggest high school football game of last week lived up to the hype as Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) beat American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) 42-34 in the only MaxPreps Top 25 matchup. The Lions move up four spots with the win to No. 6 while the Patriots fall to No. 14.

Jeremiah Smith made one of the biggest plays of the night with a late 85-yard touchdown to put Chaminade-Madonna up 42-28 in the final two minutes.
It was the second win over a MaxPreps Top 25 opponent for the Lions, joining No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) as the only other team to have multiple wins over nationally ranked teams. The Monarchs have wins over No. 8 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and No. 15 Centennial (Corona, Calif.).
No. 1 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) improved to 4-0 with a 34-7 win over Kahuku (Hawaii) in the Trinity League vs. USA Showcase event. The Braves have not trailed at any point this season and have outscored their first four opponents 177-28. The SoCal power has matchups against Central Catholic (Modesto) and Servite (Anaheim) before an Oct. 7 showdown vs. Mater Dei at the Santa Ana Bowl.
No. 3 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) improved to 3-0 with a 34-17 win over Venice (Fla.), extending its winning streak to 11. The Panthers rushed for 300-plus yards and have another road test next week at No. 25 Dutch Fork (Irmo, S.C.) on Sept. 23.
The Silver Foxes were the only new team to join the MaxPreps Top 25 and are 5-0 on the season. The South Carolina power has two wins against teams in our expanded
top 100. They beat Hough (Cornelius, N.C.) to open the year and also took down Creekside (Fairburn, Ga.) on Sept. 3. Tom Knotts is one of the best coaches in high school football and has led Dutch Fork to six state titles and has a 144-22-1 record during his 13-year tenure as head coach.
The lone team to drop out was St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio), which lost 31-28 against Washington (Massillon, Ohio). The defending Division 1 state champs were previously ranked at No. 19.
