Florida football recruits are in high demand

Being the hotbed of talent that it is, Florida is an indispensable source of talent not only for the likes of Florida, Florida State and Miami, but many other FBS programs.

As a result, it's no surprise that top recruits from the Sunshine State often receive very strong recruiting pitches from schools both within and beyond Florida's borders.

For some top juniors in Florida, the recruiting process is really heating up with offers from around the country.

American Heritage (Delray Beach, Fla.) running back Greg Bryant, arguably the top player in Palm Beach County, projects as a national recruit next year. However, the 6-foot, 200-pound back who has rushed for nine touchdowns so far this season has already narrowed his recruitment down to two schools: Georgia and Florida.

Bryant told MaxPreps he was unable to join the swarm of other recruits in Gainesville to check out the Gators take on Alabama two weeks ago. He visited Athens in the summer but hasn't been back since.

Georgia already has a commitment from another junior running back from Florida: Derrick Henry. Henry is versatile enough to play other positions, but grabbing him and Bryant in the same recruiting class, however unlikely it seems, would be a coup for the Bulldogs.

Another highly touted junior from Florida is University (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) wide receiver Jordan Cunningham.  Cunningham boasts numerous offers from around the country. Though he appears in no rush to make a decision, Miami appears to have an inside track.

"He's originally from Jamaica, but he grew up here so he has a loyalty to the University of Miami," University head coach Roger Harriott told MaxPreps. "He would probably like to be a Hurricane, but he hasn't demonstrated any commitment yet."

Under Al Golden, Miami has made a deliberate effort to establish ties to local high schools to reap the benefits that Dade and Broward counties have to offer.

"He [Golden] goes so far as to call us to congratulate us on wins," Harriott said. "He's definitely made his mark. He's created a nice fan base. He's instilled that old UM pride that has been missing over the past several years."

Fellow juniors Jordan Budwig and Maquedius Bain also project to be heavily recruited players for University.

NELSON AGHOLOR VISTS NOTRE DAME
Buzz surrounding Berkeley Prep (Tampa, Fla.) senior Nelson Agholor has indicated that Notre Dame could have a chance to land the nation's No. 22 recruit.

That appears to be the case, as Berkeley Prep head coach Dominick Ciao confirmed to MaxPreps late last week that Agholor planned to take an official visit to South Bend to watch Notre Dame take on Air Force.

The visit seemed to go well for Agholor, who tweeted from South Bend on Friday saying, "This place is awesome."

If Notre Dame were to pull off a recruiting upset and land Agholor, it will have done over some fierce recruiting competitors. While Agholor has been linked to instate schools, including USF, it appears that USC will be a factor in his recruitment.

Agholor will likely use his other official visits and doesn't appear ready to make a decision anytime soon.

"He's not in a hurry to make any decisions or anything like that," Ciao said.
