Eight of the event's 46 teams are defending state champions and all but two advanced to the postseason.

Here is a quick breakdown of three of the top games scheduled to be played. Comments are from MaxPreps football editor Stephen Spiewak.

Bergen Catholic vs. John Curtis
Spiewak: "This is interesting for a number of reasons. First, Curtis comes off a No. 1 finish last year. Will the Patriots be able to come close to duplicating their success? Also, Bergen Catholic notched one of the biggest road wins of the season last year when it traveled to Nevada to beat Bishop Gorman. Can Nunzio Campanile and staff execute the team's offense as well down in the bayou?"

Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) vs. Jordan (Sandy, Utah)
Spiewak: "I think the Cathedral Catholic/Jordan game will be a great opportunity for people in Southern California to check out Jordan phenom Austin Kafentzis. I think Kafentzis is arguably the best high school football player in the country pound for pound, and the closest thing the prep ranks has to Johnny Manziel."

Bentonville (Ark.) vs. Trinity (Euless, Texas)
Spiewak: "Bentonville has been one of the top teams in Arkansas over the last several seasons. Last season it beat Rockhurst (Ill.), South Panola (Miss.), and Broken Arrow (Okla.). However, a showdown with Texas power Trinity will be a test the likes of which Bentonville has yet to experience."
