Easter Break tournaments were in play last week for some programs and are this week for others.

No. 2 Saint Francis (Mountain View) won the 16-team Boras Baseball Classic Northern California Tournament while top-ranked College Park lost to then-national No. 2 San Clemente in the finals of a national event in North Carolina.


1. College Park (Pleasant Hill) (Last week: 1) 7-2
Section: North Coast
League: Diablo Valley
Update: The Vikings lost to then-national No. 2 San Clemente 8-3 in the finals of the USA Baseball NHSI Championship game in North Carolina and have been strong defensively otherwise, allowing two or fewer runs five times in six outings. Ace Joe DeMers struck out 14 with one walk in a 6-1 win over Berean Christian (Walnut Creek). The Elite Eight Tournament at Saint Francis Tournament is this week.

2. Saint Francis (Mountain View) (5) 10-3
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Update: The Lancers won the Boras Baseball Classic Northern California Tournament title, beating Clovis West (Fresno) 1-0 in 10 innings after downing WCAL rival Serra (San Mateo) 5-4, Liberty (Bakersfield) 11-2 and Davis 5-0. Branden Engel had the RBI against Clovis West with Andrew Carter and Jacob Walker pitching well. The Elite 8 in Newark is this week.

3. Los Gatos (20) 15-1
Section: Central Coast
League: DeAnza
Update: The Wildcats beat previous No. 2 Valley Christian (San Jose) 5-2 as Aiden Finch and Jake Holton combined for four hits and Brooks Olesek tossed a complete game. The lone loss was 2-1 to No. 23 Milpitas, since avenged 3-0. Big game against No. 8 Serra looms this week.

4. Valley Christian (San Jose) (2) 12-3
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Update: The Warriors lost to new No. 3 Los Gatos 5-2 and host the Crown Classic this week. Pitching well so far: Aaron Lopez, Mark Quinby and Brian Tate.

5. Archbishop Mitty (San Jose) (3) 11-4
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Update: Early ranked wins include Serra (2-1) and Bellarmine (5-3) with close Boras Classic losses to Stockdale (4-3) and Oak Ridge (2-1) and Boras wins over Yuba City (4-3) and Pacific Grove (9-1).

6. Jesuit (Carmichael) (14) 9-4
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Delta
Update: The Marauders went 2-2 in the Lions Tournament in Anaheim, beating Nogales 9-2 and Oxnard 9-5 and opening Delta League play on Monday with a 3-1 victory over Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove). Tanner Dodson is the ace.

7. De La Salle (Concord) (5) 4-3
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay
Update: One loss was to Jesuit 9-8, and the 2-0 start in league play came after wins over Granada (Livermore) (3-0) and Livermore (4-0) behind arms Tyler Lonestar and Justin Hooper and the bat of Michael McAdoo. De La Salle is in the National Classic this week in Fullerton.

8. Serra (San Mateo) (19) 10-5
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Update: The Padres lost only to eventual North champion and No. 2 Saint Francis in the Boras Baseball Classic, winning three other games, including 7-2 over No. 9 Elk Grove behind winning pitcher Calvin Riley. Showdown with No. 3 Los Gatos looms. Another earlier loss was 1-0 to Valley Christian and 2-1 to Mitty.

9. Elk Grove (8)

League: Delta
Update: Top ranked by The Sacramento Bee, Elk Grove is unbeaten in Section play with losses to ranked heavies Valley Christian (San Jose) (2-1), Buchanan (Clovis) (9-6), De La Salle (5-2), Clovis West (Fresno) (2-1) and Serra (San Mateo) (7-2). The setback to Clovis West was in the semifinals of the Boras Classic in 13 innings.

10. Franklin (Elk Grove) (13) 11-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Delta
Update: The Wildcats lost to Granite Bay 3-2, went 4-0 in the Fresno Easter Tournament and opened Delta League play with a 5-4 victory over rival Davis as Kale Leach had two RBIs and Jordan Estes, Isaiah Morales and Zachary Tresemer had one each.

11. Bellarmine College Prep (San Jose) (11) 12-2
Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Update: The Bells lost 2-1 to Elk Grove in the Boras Baseball Classic and have won six of seven otherwise. Sid Iyer is 5-0 and Troy Burg is 4-0. The next game is April 14 vs. rival Serra.

12. San Ramon Valley (Danville) (7) 4-1
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay
Update: The Wolves have a dominating ace in Joey Matulovich, who tossed a one-hitter to beat top-ranked College Park 4-0, a no-hitter to beat Palo Alto 3-0 and struck out 14 to beat Amador Valley (Pleasanton) 4-2. San Ramon Valley seeks to three-peat as champions in the San Luis Obispo Spring Tournament this week.

13. Maria Carrillo (Santa Rosa) (21) 12-2
Section: North Coast
League: North Bay
Update: The Pumas went 3-1 in the Boras Classic, beating once-ranked Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) 11-6, Davis 5-1 and No. 14 Oak Ridge 7-1 with a loss to Granite Bay, 3-2 as Clayton Andrews has played well.

14. Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) (6) 12-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Update: The Trojans went 2-2 in the Boras Classic with wins over No. 5 Mitty (2-1) and Turlock (8-5) with losses to powerhouse Clovis West 5-4 an No. 13 Maria Carrillo (Santa Rosa (7-1)

15. San Benito (Hollister) (12) 11-2

Update: The Haybalers lost to Palma (Salinas) 9-2 and earlier to No. 4 Valley Christian (San Jose) 3-0. They are in the Crown Classic this week.

16. Vintage (Napa) (15) 14-1
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Monticello Empire
Update: Recent wins in a seven-game winning streak include previously ranked Davis (2-1) in eight innings before a 9-6 loss to rival Napa. MEL play resumes this week.

17. Monte Vista (Danville) (22) 6-2
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay
Update: The Mustangs beat previously ranked Foothill (Pleasanton) 7-5 and Granada 5-2 behind slugger Jack Maloon to keep pace in the power-packed EBL. Monte Vista is in the National Classic in Fullerton this week.

18. St. Mary's (Stockton) (13) 9-6
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Tri-County
Update: The Rams crushed the ball against West (Tracy) in winning 12-6, 10-0 and 15-6, including a no-hitter in the 10-0 effort. Next is the Elite Eight this week and a showdown with top-ranked College Park. An earlier loss was to No. 16 Monte Vista.

19. Heritage (Brentwood) (NR) 9-3
Section: North Coast
League: Bay Valley
Update: The Patriots expect to compete for the league title with a string of recent strong wins, including 3-0 over California (San Ramon). Gio Diaz, Alex Robinson, Kevin Milam and Jake Cruce lead the team in RBIs.

20. California (San Ramon) (NR) 6-3
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay
Update: The Grizzlies are off to a 2-0 start in league play, beating Amador Valley (Pleasanton) 2-0 and previously ranked Foothill (Pleasanton) 7-1.

21. Amador Valley (Pleasanton) (15) 6-2
Section: North Coast
League: East Bay
Update: The Dons are in a fight in the EBL with ranked rivals California and San Ramon Valley after losing to those programs 2-0 and 4-2, respectively. They are in the San Luis Obispo Tournament this week.

22. Redwood (Larkspur) (25) 11-1
Section: North Coast
League: Marin County
Update: Pitching and defense have resulted in the fast start that includes a 10-game winning streak. Zach Cohen and Tyler Peck are each 5-0.

23. Milpitas (17) 12-4
Section: Central Coast
League: DeAnza
Update: The Trojans recovered from a 5-4 loss to Saratoga with wins of 6-4 and 6-1 over Mountain View. The team has split with No. 3 Los Gatos, a 2-1 victory and a 3-0 loss.

24. Lincoln (Stockton) (24) 12-2
Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Tri-City Athletic
Update: An early loss was to No. 6 Jesuit 3-0 and to No. 16 Monte Vista 9-0 with recent league wins of 7-2 and 5-3 over rival Lodi. Three games against West loom this week.

Section: North Coast
League: North Bay
Update: The Cardinals have won seven consecutive games against in-state competition, with an earlier win over Monte Vista 3-1 and a 4-0 loss to Redwood.
