Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Lauren Olsen of
Douglas is the 2024-25 Wyoming MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 5-foot-8 senior guard led the Bearcats to a 27-1 record and their seventh straight Class 3A state championship. with 30 points in a 58-55 win over Cody.
For the season, Olsen averaged 27.7 points, 4.6 steals, 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. In a 58-55 win over Cody in the title game, she poured in a game-high 30 points.

A four-time All-State selection, Olsen led Douglas to a 106-6 record during her time with the program and leaves with a school record 2,599 points.
Olsen signed with Cal Baptist in November.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released in April. Past selections include 2024 WNBA Most Valuable Player A'ja Wilson (2014) as well as 2024 All-WNBA first team picks Caitlin Clark (2020), Napheesa Collier (2015), Breanna Stewart (2012) and Alyssa Thomas (2010).
