The countdown to the state championship games has begun with playoff brackets selected in every section except the Central Coast Section.

The Central Coast Section doesn't begin its bracket selection process until next weekend, but brackets are available in every other section. The playoff brackets in the Sac-Joaquin Section have resulted in four new teams added to the championship game matchups. Grant is the new top team in Division 2 while Central Catholic returns after a brief absence in Division 3. Lathrop is a new team in Division 4 while Hilmar is new to Division 6.

The only other new teams this week include Clovis in the Central Section Division 1, Archbishop Mitty in the Central Coast Section Division 2 runner-up, Oceanside in the San Diego Section Division 1, and Winters in the Northern Section Division 4.

Following are the unofficial regional matchups for the 13 CIF Football Championship Games. Teams are listed by their section enrollment division along with their record and their rating based on the MaxPreps Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

For the Central Coast Section team rankings, teams in the Central Coast Section A Leagues are divided by MaxPreps into three equal groups for the three Open Division section championship games. This is not necessarily how the CCS will select teams for their Open Division playoff format. The runner-up teams are considered to be the No. 2 ranked team in each Open Division group.

The top eight ranked teams in the San Diego Section are considered for the Open Division and the No. 9 ranked team is considered the top team in Division I for the purposes of these rankings.
