Carrollton (Ga.) opened his second high school football playoff run with a fury Friday night, throwing a school-record seven touchdowns in a 54-14 win over Harrison (Kennesaw). The Trojans advance to face storied Valdosta in the
AAAAAAA round of 16 next week.
Lewis, a five-star prospect by 247Sports committed to USC, completed 12 of 14 passes for 377 yards and six scores in the first half alone as Carrollton scored the third-most points in school history. He finished with 435 yards and the seven scores on an efficient 15 of 19 passing.
The MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year last season, Lewis broke his own school record of six TDs that he shared with Myles Morris.
Carrollton is looking to get back to the AAAAAAA title game after falling 70-35 to Mill Creek (Hoschton) in the 2022 championship.
Lewis entered Friday's postseason opener with 2,190 yards passing and 24 touchdowns, completing 134 of 202 attempts (66.3 percent). He threw for more than 4,000 yards and 48 touchdowns as a freshman.
The run to a possible title will be a serious test as the Georgia AAAAAAA bracket is the second toughest postseason bracket in the country
according to Zack Poff of MaxPreps. Five teams in the MaxPreps Top 25 are vying for the crown along with two others in the expanded top 100.
